Julie Mattson was born and raised in Montana where she started her adventure in fly fishing. At age 10 she received a fly tying kit for Christmas and after catching a fish on a fly she tied, she never looked back.

During her 25+ year career, she was a Outfitter/Guide in Southeast Alaska for 13+ years and has returned on occasion, when requested by guests. 

​

She guided in Montana on her home waters, Upper Madison River, along with some private waters during the fare weather months. During the winter months she guided ice fishing on the fly.

​

After visiting #Oklahoma and #Arkansas waters through the years Julie has settled in Broken Bow, Oklahoma area she lives in Hoachatown, just minutes from the Lower Mountain Fork River where she guides full time, year round.

​

During her career she has taught many 101 basic, advanced casting, and fly fishing classes and guide schools. She has operated Fly Fishing trips and commercially tied flies for locals and celebrities.

​

She holds a PFF certification as a Casting Instructor/Guide. You may have seen her on a couple different shows for Fly Fishing such as Extreme Fishing and The Outdoor Channel.

​

Julie is a member of the US Women's National Fly Fishing Team. She is also a member of the Texas Women Fly Fishers and a mentor for the Arkansas Mayfly Project which introduces fly fishing to children. 

​

Having spent a lot of time on the water, Julie wants to ensure her clients have the best experience. Whether it be their first trip or one of many, she wants each person to walk away with having learned something about this great sport and the opportunity to hook up with fish.
